Hello and welcome to Chill Eng!
I’m Zach, the founder and instructor behind this project. For the past two years, I’ve been teaching English in Seoul—specifically in the heart of Gangnam—where stress levels run high for students and adults alike. From toddlers being prepped for elite kindergartens to professionals juggling demanding corporate jobs, everyone is chasing English proficiency under intense pressure.
I’ve watched these learners—whether they’re three or thirty—push themselves to the brink, focusing on test scores and prestige more than genuine growth or well-being. No one, it seemed, was teaching English in a way that also nurtures peace of mind. That’s why I created Chill Eng: to offer a holistic approach that prioritizes self-care and mindful, enjoyable learning, instead of relentless achievement and stress.
Why “Chill” Matters
I believe we learn better in a relaxed state than we do under constant tension. In creating these lessons, I found my own stress and anxiety subsiding. Writing content that soothes, uplifts, and encourages mindful living became cathartic for me—an antidote to the hectic lifestyle in Seoul and beyond.
